Panthers Impress at GLIAC Tournament, Fall Short in Medal Match Play

AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Davenport University men's golf team had an impressive showing at the GLIAC Tournament last weekend, finishing second and reaching medal match play after the opening three rounds.

In the opening three rounds, the Panthers shot three under par (849) to finish second place, seven strokes ahead of third place Ferris State.

DU had three players finish inside the top ten: Justin Grimard (seventh), Chen-Shiuan Wu (ninth) and T.J. Chiu (10th).

Grimard had his best round in the third, shooting a 69 (-2), which included five birdies through the 18 holes of action. Wu shot a 71 (E) in the first and third rounds, while securing a 70 (-1) in round two for his best round. Chiu finished with a 71 (E) in all three rounds, securing seven birdies in 54 holes.

Cayden Kwan placed 13th overall in the tournament, ending with a 54 hole score of 214 (+1).

In match play, the Panthers fell 5-0 to Grand Valley State.

Second marked the highest finish for DU in the  GLIAC Tournament since 2021-22 when the Panthers took first.
