Box Score
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Davenport University opened its 2025 season with a convincing 2-0 victory over Ohio Dominican on Thursday night at Panther Stadium. After a scoreless first half, the DU Panthers broke through with two goals in the second period to secure the win — their first season-opening victory since 2002.
Both teams locked into a defensive battle in the opening 45 minutes, with limited chances created on either side. Davenport managed four first-half shots, but Ohio Dominican goalkeeper Joseph Deitering held strong, making one save to keep the score level at the break. Davenport's back line, anchored by Beau Hudd in goal, limited ODU to just a single attempt before halftime.
Davenport broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when freshman midfielder Charlie Davis buried his chance for the team's first goal of the season, marking his first collegiate goal. Ten minutes later, defender Maxamillian Postlewait doubled the lead with his first career goal, giving Davenport firm control of the match.
Ohio Dominican pushed late, highlighted by a 73rd-minute attempt from Keagen Daniels that forced a save from Hudd, but the Davenport defense held to preserve the shutout.
Davis led the Panthers offensively with five shots on target, converting one into the game-winning goal. Postlewait added one shot on goal, which he converted for the second score. Easton Lopez also applied steady pressure with three shots on goal.
Hudd played the full 90 minutes in net, making one save while earning the clean sheet. The Panthers finished with 16 total shots, including nine on target, compared to just two attempts and one on target for ODU.
Deitering kept the hosts in the match with seven saves but was unable to stop Davenport's second-half surge.
