Davenport Takes Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

CALEDONIA, Mich. — The Panthers picked up a pair of road victories last week, defeating Ferris State 2-1 on Friday before earning a 2-1 win over Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. The victory over the Cardinals marked Davenport's first win over Saginaw Valley since 2023. The Panthers now hit the road for two more GLIAC matchups, facing No. 5 Grand Valley State on Friday, Oct. 16, at 5:30 p.m. before traveling to Parkside on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.

Davenport rallied in the second half against Ferris State, with Natalie Vance opening the scoring in the 57th minute off an assist from Laney Carlson. Vance later turned playmaker, setting up Isabella Workman's game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. Despite being outshot 19-5, the Panthers made the most of their opportunities, while Elizabeth Wolter recorded eight saves to help preserve the victory.

The Panthers carried that momentum into Sunday's matchup at Saginaw Valley State, scoring twice in the first half before holding off the Cardinals' second-half pressure. Workman opened the scoring off assists from Madison Fant and Audrey Muterspaugh before Ellary Laverty found the net off a pass from Autumn Wakefield. Saginaw Valley finished with a 24-3 advantage in shots, but Wolter made eight saves, including five after halftime, as Davenport protected its lead to secure the historic win.

Davenport enters the week at 7-3-3 overall and 5-3-1 in GLIAC play, riding a three-game winning streak into Friday's rematch with Grand Valley State. Workman has scored in two consecutive games, while Wolter has recorded 16 saves across the two victories. The Panthers previously fell 3-0 to the Lakers on Oct. 2, recording six shots in the matchup. Davenport will look to build on its recent offensive production and defensive resilience before closing the weekend against Parkside.
