OLIVET, Mich. - The Davenport men's volleyball team battled a raucous crowd and fired up opponents to pull out a tough five-set victory on the road versus the host University of Olivet Comets on Tuesday (Feb. 3), bringing their season record to 10-0. Set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 17-25, 15-10 were evidence of the back-and-forth nature of the match. Gavin Vandergraaf (16) and
James May (13) led the Panthers in kills. May also added four aces.
Tristan Whitman assisted on 37 kills. Even though blocks were hard to come by for the Panthers, Whitman and
Shaquann Amenuvor both had two block assists.
Robert Lowes served at an impressive 100 percent on the evening, allowing the team to go on scoring runs during his serve. The men's volleyball team plays next this weekend as they host the Great Lakes Men's Volleyball Conference round-robin on Saturday and Sunday. Play starts at 10:00 AM on Saturday and 9:00 AM on Sunday.
