5 School Records set at GLIAC Indoor Championships

The men finished fourth (51), while the women finished sixth (42.5)

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams competed in the GLIAC Indoor Championships at Saginaw Valley State over the past two days. The men's team finished fourth with 51 points, while the women's team placed sixth with 42.5 points. There were five school records that fell during the meet and six top-3 finishers for the Panthers.

SCHOOL RECORDS
Arrionna Wallace finished in a time of 7.62 in the 60-meter finals and placed second. She beat Julia Tuuri's time of 7.63 set in last year's conference meet.
Luke Oyster ran the mile in a time of 4:12.59 and placed fifth. He broke the record of 4:16.45 set by Nik Shilling on Jan. 20, 2024 at the GVSU Mike Lints Open.
Jordan Domany improved on his own school record in the 3,000 meters (8:31.39) and 5,000 meters (14:34.34).
The men's distance medley relay consisting of Lucas Van Meter, Harrison Follett, Tyler Guggemos, and Oyster finished third with a time of 10:06.99. The previous record was 10:21.00 all the way back on Feb. 12, 2010 at the GVSU Big Meet by Keith Heyboer, Denny Major, Joey Snellick, and Andrew Hawks.

PODIUM FINISHES
Arrionna Wallace in the 60-meter finals placed second at 7.62.
Tori Lator placed second in the high jump (5' 2.5") and set a new PR.
Julia Ott placed third in the high jump (5' 2.5").
Malcolm Earvin claimed third place in the 60-meter finals with a time of 6.90 for a new PR and the sixth-best time in school history. 
Chandler Griffiths was third in the shot put with a throw of 52' 6.75".
The men's distance medley relay placed third with a time of 10:06.99.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Jaiden Young took fourth in the 60-meter final (7.84) for the third-best time in school history. She also set a PR in the prelims at 7.76.
Jakya Mack-Smith crossed the line in sixth place in the 60-meter finals (7.88) and ran 7.83 in the prelims. She had the sixth-best time in Davenport history.
Hanah Johnson took sixth in the 200-meter finals with a time of 25.77. It was the third-best time in Davenport history.
Jayla Proctor in the shot put was able to finish sixth with a throw of 41' 1.75".
Tori Lator was seventh in the pentathlon with 2,986 points, which was fifth-best at DU.
Malcolm Earvin was fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.71 for a PR and third-best all-time at DU.
Adam Jorgensen in the 400 meters ran 49.04 for a new PR and fifth place with the sixth-best all-time at DU.
Rogan Melling in the 5,000 meters had the fifth-best all-time result at 15:17.43.
Marcus Nystrom in the 60-meter hurdles finished fifth with a time of 8.28.
Jaden Herrick took eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.48.
Andrew Otberg had the ninth-best all-time mark at DU with a height of 6' 1.5" in the high jump.
Ethan Scholten was fifth in the long jump (22' 3").
Thomas Johnson was sixth in the shot put (50' 2").
Mark Palmeter was able to finish fifth in the heptathlon with 4,205 points.
