To cap off a spectacular season where he earned multiple postseason awards, senior
Dylan Pawenski picked up his biggest award, this one for his work on the diamond and in the classroom as he earned Academic All-America honors on Tuesday afternoon. Pawenski was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Division II Baseball Team as a second team selection. It is his first academic All-American honor.
Pawenski becomes the fifth baseball player to earn the award joining Jacob Buchberger, EJ Grochowalski, Jeremy Vazquez, and Brandon Bongard. He is just the second player of the NCAA D2 era to earn this distinction after Buchberger was first team in 2019. Pawenski also joins fellow GLIAC players to make second team including Jovan Gill (GVSU) and Evan Morrison (GVSU).
The catcher put up as great an offensive season as any backstop in school history. He finished first in slugging percentage (.681), third in home runs (13), third in runs batted in (65), fourth in the GLIAC in batting average (.388), and ninth in hits (73). His slugging percentage was fifth-best at DU, while his home runs rank third and his RBIs rank second.
He was a second team NCBWA All-American and a third team D2CCA All-American this season.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® program.
