KISSIMMEE, Fla. - In their first game at the Walt Disney Complex, Davenport continued their perfect start behind #1 pitcher Brandon Romero who threw a 4-hit shutout to down Evangel 2-0. The shutout is the second straight for Romero as Davenport would later defeat Point Park for their 10th win in a row.
Brandon Romero, who transfered to Davenport this year from a junior college, has been a standout on a team that has turned heads across the WHAC and NAIA in only their first year as a program.
After opening the season with a 1-0 shutout of Hanover, Romero picked up right where he left off and struck out eight batter on Saturday to lead the Panthers to a 2-0 win.
The two runs were provided by Joe Freist and Bryan Spykerman off the bat of James Folske on a double in the fourth inning.
The two wins on Saturday lift Davenport to a perfect 10-0 on the year as they will have four more games before heading back to Michigan with two more against Point Park and two against William Penn.
