KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Davenport's perfect start to their first ever season of baseball came to an end on Sunday afternoon in rainy and windy conditions as Point Park came out on top 9-7. The loss leaves DU at 11-1 with two games remaining on Monday in Florida.
Davenport opened the day with their 11th straight win and second consecutive over Point Park with an 8-3 victory in the morning.
The two teams met for the third time in two days later on Sunday and Davenport quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings. Tim McNair came up with a double in the 2nd to drive in both Mike Pike and Ryan Lind and McNair would later score on a single by James Folske.
After DU added three more runs in the top half of the 4th, the lead quickly evaporated as Point Park posted six runs in the bottom half to tie the game at 7.
The offense did not stop there for Park as they added two more in the bottom of the fifth and would close the door on the perfect start for the Panthers.
Tommy Greer took the loss for Davenport as he was able to finish off the tough 4th inning but also gave up one earned in the 5th.
Tim McNair, Brian Spykerman and Ryan Lind all finished with two hits each for DU and Joe Freist joined McNair in driving in two runs.
Davenport will take on William Penn on Monday for their final two games in the Sunshine State before returning home on Tuesday.
