PIPPA PASSES, Kent. - Davenport University combined for 21 hits and 25 runs scored in two victories against Alice Lloyd. Both games ended in 5 innings as the Panthers came out on top 8-0 in game 1 and 17-0 in game 2. The wins lift Davenport to 8-6 on the year, and set the single game hit record for DU at 17.
In game one the Panthers jumped out early scoring seven runs in the first inning. DU capitalized on mistakes by Alice Lloyd and added another run in the fourth inning. Haley Stehouwer, Sandi Seaman, Cora Miller, and Ali Dawson accounted for the Panthers four hits in the game.
Kassi Johnson had her best performance of the season on the mound as she only gave up two hits and struck out eight batters in route to pitching the first shut-out in DU softball history.
In game two the Panthers carried over their defensive dominance along with an explosion of their bats in the 17-0 victory. Seaman and Miller both had three hits while Stehouwer, Kristin Miedema, Kristina Krum, and Nikki Aldrich each had two hits.
Rounding out the hits for DU was Morgan Greenfield, Kassi Johnson, and Jodi Steenwyk who all had one hit.
Dawson and Lindsey Stocker combined for the two hit shut-out of Alice Lloyd with Dawson earning her third victory on the year.
Davenport will look to continue their two game win streak tomorrow when they take on Pikeville College in Pikeville, KY. Game time is set for 2pm.
