Game 1 Box Score Game 2 Box Score
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Davenport Softball team opened up their first ever WHAC season with a road trip to Fort Wayne on Wednesday and the bats struggled all day to get on track as they fell 4-3 in game one and 9-0 in game two. Davenport stands at 15-10 on the year as they will now host Madonna on Saturday.
In game one, Davenport got off to a fast start as they opened the game leading 1-0 after the first inning and actually had a 3-1 lead heading into the 6th inning.
Unfortunately some pitching troubles allowed the Warriors to claw their way back in and Tech scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and DU was unable to rally in their last at bat. DU put nine Tech players on base via walks which came back to haunt DU in the end.
Game two started off bad and got worse for the Lady Panthers as Tech scored one run in the first, and then proceeded to add one in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth as they built a 9-0 lead heading into the fifth where they closed it out. DU managed only four hits in the game.
For the day, Cora Miller went 5/7 with two doubles while Karlee Despres and Kassi Johnson took the losses.
DU will host Madonna University on Saturday at the Christian Recreation Center in their first ever home game. The double-header is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
