GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the second time in her last four starts, Davenport freshman Karlee Despres threw a no-hitter as the Lady Panthers softball team swept Indiana Tech on Wednesday afternoon. Today's performance was joined by solid hitting from the entire lineup as DU won 10-2 (6) and 3-2 over the Warriors.

Game one was dominated by the Davenport hitters as the Panthers sent four shots out of the yard including the final two-run shot by Haley Stehouwer that forced the game into a mercy after six innings. DU put up three runs in the top of the first which was highlighted by RBI's from Katie Cornman, Karlee Despres and Kristina Krum. Cornman then blasted the second of two Davenport homeruns in the second inning as Stehouwer hit her first of two on the game.

Cornman and Stehouwer both finished with three RBI as the team batted 8/27 from the plate on last year's WHAC Player of the Year.

After a scoreless first inning in the second game of the WHAC double-header, it looked as if there would be quite a few runs scored again when Indiana Tech got two of their players across the dish after each of them got on without gaining a hit against DU hurler Karlee Despres. Davenport then put up three runs in the bottom half all on a three-run shot by senior Cora Miller.

The game was then a pitcher's duel as Despres was outstanding for the fourth start in a row. The freshman did struggle with her command as she walked five Warriors, but she finished Tech off by striking out five as well as not allowing a hit for her second career no-hitter.

Miller drove in all three of Davenport's runs as she finished with two hits.  Kassi Johnson also posted two hits in the game while Cornman and Ali Dawson provided the other two hits for DU.

The two wins by Davenport lift the Lady Panthers to 20-17 on the year as they have now won four in a row and five out of their last six. They will look to extend their winning streak when they welcome UM Dearborn to Grand Rapids on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
