FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Traveling to Fort Wayne for a matchup with the conference leading Warriors, Davenport opened wih a 5-3 win in game one before falling 22-4 in the nightcap. The split sets DU at 26-19 on the year and they are now 6-8 in WHAC play.

Game one looked as if it would go the way of the host Wwarriors as they led by one entering the final inning but a late 3-run rally by the Panthers gave them the 5-3 win. DU got on the board first as James Folske came around to score on an error and the Panthers would again go on top in the fourth when Joe Freist brought home Brian Spykerman.

The lead would not last though as Tech put up runs in the bottom of the fourth and 6th innings before DU came up to the plate for their final three outs. After two easy putouts by the host Warriors, Joe Hill and James Folske hit back to back doubles that was followed by a 2-run homerun by Matt Collins to give DU a 5-3 lead.

Jarret Luyk came in and after hitting the first batter, retired the next three in order with two coming via the strikeout to pick up his second save of the year.

Game two is one that DU will want to wash from their system as soon as possible as Tech showed why they are fighting for the top spot in the WHAC. The Warrior bats came out on fire after DU took a 2-0 lead after the top of the second. Tech went on to post three runs in each of the next two innings before exploding in the fourth for 16 runs and a convincing 22-4 win.

Joe Freist and Joe Hill picked up 3 of the 4 RBI in game two as Andy Westerburg took the loss.

The split leaves DU at 26-19 on the year as they welcome Indiana Tech to Sullivan Field on Sunday for a double-header beginning at 1:00 PM.
