ADRIAN, Mich. - A split on Sunday afternoon in Adrian gives the Panthers a 3-1 series win against Siena Heights. Davenport now stands at 24-12 on the year and are 4-4 in the WHAC.

The bats got off to a slow start in the opening game today for both sides as the pitchers had their way. Wes Trimpe was solid for Davenport as he cruised through the first five innings while giving up two hits along the way. He unfortunately ran out of steam in the 6th and gave up three runs that started with a hit batter.

After falling behind 3-0 after six, the bats came alive in the 7th for Davenport as Derrick Gentile, Tim McNair and James Folske all came across the dish to tie the score heading to the last half inning. A Saints run in the bottom half though gave the host team a walk off win in game one 4-3.

Joe Freist led the offense as he went 3/4 with an RBI and Brian Spykerman posted two hits in the game as well.

Game two was all Davenport as they took a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Matt Collins hit a long homerun that scored Mitch Pike and James Folske. After the Saints cut the lead to 3-1 in the 4th, the Panthers then tacked on two runs in the 5th and 6th before adding three in the seventh.

Derrick Gentile led the DU bats as he collected three hits in the game while James Folske, Matt Collins, Brian Spykerman and Tommy Enslen all chipped in with two hits each.

Jarrett Luyk got the win as he went five innings while giving up seven hits and striking out seven. He improves to 4-2 on the year.

Davenport improves to 24-12 on the year and 4-4 in the WHAC as they will host MCC-foe University of St. Francis on Tuesday afternoon at Sullivan Field. Game one of the double-header will begin at 2:00 PM.
