DEERFIELD, Ill. - After seeing their lead late in the game vanish, the Panthers rebounded in the second overtime to score the game winner and take their season opener 3-2 over Trinity International. With the win, DU is now 3-1-1 all-time in season openers.

Playing their first game of the season without some of their key starters, the Panthers got off to a slow start as the host Trojans took the lead in the 14th minute but DU got on the board just eight minutes later when Aaron Lee (Grand Rapids, Mich.) connected on a perfect pass from Richard Visser (Holland, Mich.) to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.

After 15 minutes of solid defense to open the second half, DU struck again when Visser scored his first goal of the season on a pass from Damian Goncalves (South Africa). With the time winding down, it looked as if the Panthers would escape with a 2-1 victory but the Trojans scored a late goal to force overtime.

The two squads would go without a goal in the first extra frame but Davenport got the victory when Alex Boehm (Stevensville Mich.) found the back of the net at the 108:15 mark.

James Gilpin (Newcastle, UK) got the win in net for Davenport as they will now travel to Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Tuesday for a matchup with the 7th ranked Falcons. Game time is set for 7:00 PM in South Euclid, Ohio just outside of Cleveland.
