Waldhart’s Hat Trick Leads DU to 6-3 Victory Over Lansing CC

LANSING, Mich. – The Panthers earned their ninth win of the year with a 6-3 victory over Lansing Community College. DU controlled the puck most of the night out shooting the Stars 73-23 to stay undefeated, 3-0, in the MCHC.

 Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.) led the scoring for the Panthers in the first period with two goals from Jordan Permoda (Wayland, Mich.)Bryon Guerin (Jackson, Mich.), and Garrett Garber (Cadillac, Mich.). DU would allow LCC to score late in the period to cut the Panthers lead to 2-1 heading into the second period.

Entering the second period the Panthers would continue to put pressure on the net but would be unable to score, keeping the score at 2-1.

In the third DU would start the scoring with a goal by Garber from Jake Williams (Jenison, Mich.). LCC would add a goal of their own with the Panther striking back twenty seconds later with a goal from Zach Standifer (Monroe, Mich.). Up 4-2, Lansing CC would cut the lead to just one halfway through the second period.

The Panthers would answer back as Waldhart would finish off his hat trick night with an unassisted goal , and teammate John Brooks (Grand Rapids, Mich.) would add DU's final goal to secure the 6-3 victory. Tim Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich.) would get his sixth win in net for DU, remaining undefeated on the year.

Davenport will finish the conference series with Lansing CC tonight at Patterson Ice Center. Game time is set for 7:00pm and live audio will be available on the Davenport Athletics Network.
