Box Score SAGINAW, Mich. - After falling to SVSU 4-3 Friday night at Patterson Ice Center, the Panthers were able to rebound with a 4-3 victory at SVSU on Saturday. Davenport is now 14-7 overall and 7-3 in MCHC play.
In the first period the Panthers jumped on the board early taking a 2-0 lead. Both goals came on the powerplay with Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Mike Soto (Muskegon, Mich.) getting credit for the goals. Saginaw Valley would cut the lead to just one before the end of the period to give DU the 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
Captain Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) would increase DU's lead to two again with a goal from Soto and Josh Edwards (Dorr, Mich.). The two goal lead with not last for long with SVSU adding two more goals in the game to end the second period at a 3-3 tie.
Both teams would be held scoreless in the first eight minutes of the third period. Ouellette would break the tie and score his second goal of the night for the Panthers, which would be the eventual game winning goal.
Davenport would earn their first victory over the Cardinals in three games and their seventh in conference play. John Cruse (Shelby Twp, Mich.) would earn his fifth victory in net for the Panthers who extend their road record to 9-1 on the year.
The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, December 4th when they travel to Muskegon CC for a 7:30pm match.
