Box Score JACKSON, Mich. – After pulling out a huge 4-3 victory last night the D3 hockey team used its momentum to cruise to 14-1 victory over non-conference opponent Jackson Community College. The Panthers now sit at 12-3 on the year and continue their win streak to seven.
In the first period of play DU accounted for four even strength goals from four different Panthers.
Ben Duthler (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Jordan Phillips (Swartz Creek, Mich.),
Jason Kraemer (Livonia, Mich.), and
Mike Soto (Muskegon, Mich.) all found the net in the period.
The Panthers would add a power play goal in the beginning of the second period from
Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.). DU would then push another four goals across the blue line to take a 9-0 lead heading into the third.
Dylan Downs (Hastings, Mich.) would add two goals right off the bat to complete his first career hat trick and push the lead to 11-0. Jackson would score their lone goal of the game in the third with DU answering right back with a shorthanded goal from
Taylor Keyworth.
The Panthers would tack on two more goals before the final horn sounded to earn the 14-1 victory over Jackson.
Matt Sekosan (Sterling Heights, Mich.) would earn the victory in net for DU, with the Panthers outshooting Jackson 54-15.
DU will be back on the ice tomorrow afternoon when they host Oakland University at Patterson Ice Center. Game time is set for 3:00pm and can be heard live on the DAN.
