ATLANTA, Ga. - Davenport improved to 5-0 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in Atlanta over spring break as they defeated Kennesaw State on Monday 10-5. The Panthers will now host Hope College on March 4 at the DU Turf Field.
After a stellar defense performance against host Emory on Sunday, the Panthers were pretty much the same on Monday allowing only five goals on 42 shots.
Cody Cross (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored a late first quarter goal for DU after they fell behind 2-0. The offense picked it up a little in the second and DU got a Sam Carlson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) goal with just 26 seconds remaining to take their first lead of the game heading into halftime.
The late goal seemed to give DU all the momentum it would need for the remainder of the game as they would go on to outscore Kennesaw 6-2 in the second half.
Highlighting the goals for the Panthers three from Shawn Beer (Aurora, Ontario) and one each for Lyle Parks (Troy, Mich.), Jordy Sayers (Davison, Mich.) and Carlson.
The win lifts DU to 5-0 on the year and they will make their first appearance of the year at home on March 4 when they welcome fellow CCLA member Hope College to the Turf Field.
