PREVIEW: Panthers Prep for Weekend Trip to Lake Erie

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Entering the weekend on an impressive four-game winning streak and remaining perfect 6-0 in conference play, the Davenport University men's lacrosse team is looking to keep the momentum going this weekend. The Panthers travel to Painesville, Ohio, to take on Lake Erie on Saturday (April 4).

Last time out, the Panthers secured a dominating 14-point win over Tiffin on Tuesday night (March 24). Jayden Ashley had the best game of his career, finishing with a career-high 12 points (10 goals and two assists), earning G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Ashley leads all of NCAA Division II in goals per game (4.70). Meanwhile, Logan Flaherty is second across the country in ground balls per game (10.30).

About the Storm
  • Last season, the Storm went 7-7 overall and 7-2 in conference action. Lake Erie fell in the G-MAC Conference Semifinals to No. 3-seeded Walsh, 10-8. 
  • Returned six of the 10 players who started eight or more games last season. Much of the offensive core is back, including five of the team's top seven goal scorers.
  • Billy Coughlin is the squad's top offensive threat, leading the way in points (26), goals (17) and assists (nine).
  • The only win of the season came against Davis & Elkins on Tuesday (March 10), coming away with a 12-11 overtime win.
  • Picked to finish fifth in the G-MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
