G1 Box Score | G2 Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ken. - After an exciting 2-1 victory in nine innings the Lady Panthers dropped game two of the doubleheader 3-2 to split with #24 Campbellsville University. Davenport improves to 12-3 on the year and will finish up their Kentucky road trip tomorrow against Union College.

In game one Campbellsville jumped on the board with a run in the third after a two base miscue from right fielder Katie Cornman (Eastpointe, Mich.). Davenport would answer back in the top of the fourth when senior Kristin Miedema (Newaygo, Mich.) would hit a homerun to straight away center to tie the game up at 1-1.

Tied up at 1-1 the Panthers would go into extra innings with the international tie breaker rule into effect. Both teams would go scoreless in the eighth inning and DU would start out the ninth with Jodi Steenwyk (Sparta, Mich.) on second base. She would advance to third on a pass ball and then score on a base hit from Morgan Greenfield (Wyoming, Mich.).

Heading into the bottom of the inning DU would be up 2-1 with a runner starting on second base. Campbellsville would bunt the runner over to third base with one out in the inning. The next batter would hit a line drive to Cornman in right field for the second out and then she would throw out the runner at home to give DU the 2-1 victory.

Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would go all nine innings to earn her fifth win on the mound for the Panthers.

In game two Davenport would strike first with an RBI single from Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.) to score Haley Stehouwer (Wyoming, Mich.). Campbellsville would add runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th innings to go up 3-1.

Davenport would add another run in the fifth inning off an RBI single from Kelsey Egyhazi (Mishawaka, Ind.) to cut the Tiger lead to 3-2. The Panther bats would go cold after that and suffer their third loss of the year.

Davenport is now 12-3 on the year and will complete their Kentucky road trip tomorrow when they take on Union College at 11:00am.
