Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After defeating Indiana Tech in a doubleheader on Monday, the tides turned today with the Warriors picking up a sweep at home 10-2 and 4-3. The two losses drop DU to 27-11 on the year and 6-4 in league action. Davenport hosts Cornerstone on Friday at 4:00 PM.
The scoring started for DU in the top of the first after Haley Stehouwer (Wyoming, Mich.) led off the game with a double. The senior was brought home on ball put in play by Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.).
Unfortunately that would be one of just two bright spots for DU as the Warriors exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second and finished the Lady Panthers off with four more in the bottom of the 6th for the 10-2 win.
DU managed just three hits in the game as Stehouwer collected both runs in the loss dropping them to 6-3 in WHAC play.
The second game was much more of a defensive battle as DU once again took the 1-0 lead on a run by Stehouwer as she was drove in on a bases loaded walk. Indiana Tech got even with a run of their own in the bottom of the third and the game would become a pitchers dual.
Karlee was solid on the mound allowing only five hits but the Warriors broke through in the bottom of the sixth with one earned and one un-earned run to lead 3-1.
Down by two entering the top of the seventh and trying to avoid the day's sweep, DU got a big hit from freshman Chelsey Dow (Lake Odessa, Mich.) with one out. Haley Stehouwer then came up and hit a game-tying two-run homerun.
Davenport would eventually put two more runners on but they were unable to come up with the big hit to go ahead and it allowed the Warriors one final shot in the scheduled 7-inning game.
Indiana Tech's first batter up reached on an error and advanced all the way to third and then scored on a wild pitch to end the game and give the Warriors a 4-3 win.
The two losses send DU to 27-11 on the year and 6-4 in the WHAC as they will now host Cornerstone on Friday at 4:00 PM.
