Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After being rained out in the bottom of the fourth back on April 3rd, the Panthers held on to their 6-1 lead to come away with the victory in game one. DU would then drop game two, 3-2 to split the doubleheader and bring their overall record to 35-13 on the year and 12-6 in the WHAC.
In game one Davenport would score first in the first inning off an RBI single from Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Mich.). The Panthers would add two more runs in the second and then three in the third to go up 6-0.
Ali Dawson (Galesburg, Mich.), Haley Stehouwer (Wyoming, Mich.), and Sandi Seaman (St. Claire Shores, Mich.) would all be credited with RBI's in the game.
Madonna would add a run in the top of the fourth off a DU error, but that would be all their scoring as Freshman Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would continue to shut down the MU offense and earn the 6-1 win.
In game two Madonna would jump on the board early scoring two runs in the second and then another in the third to take the early 3-0 lead.
DU would cut the lead to 3-1 when Kristin Miedema (Newaygo, Mich.) would score from first base off an RBI double from Karlee Despres (Belmont, Mich.). The Panthers would continue to chip away at the MU lead when Stehouwer would homer to left field in the fifth to push the score to 2-3.
That would be as close as the Panthers would get as Madonna would hold on to the one run lead and hand DU their thirteenth loss of the year.
Cole would suffer the loss on the mound after pitching the first two and a thirds inning and giving up all three runs. Despres would finish the rest of the game and earn the no decision.
Davenport will be back at home again tomorrow when they take on the Wolves from UM-Dearborn. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
