Brusokas, Krum, and Miedema All Homer in 9-0 Win Over UM-Dearborn

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Davenport combined for 9 runs off 5 homeruns to defeat UM-Dearborn 9-0 in five innings and advance to the tournament championship game against Madonna. Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.) and Kristina Krum (Kalamazoo, Mich.) each had two homeruns in the game with Kristin Miedema (Newaygo, Mich.) accounting for the fifth.

The Lady Panthers jumped on the board early in the first inning when Brusokas and Miedema hit back to back solo homeruns with two outs in the first inning to give DU the 2-0 lead.

Brusokas would add another two-run shot in the third inning to put DU up 4-0. Krum would account for the Panthers next five RBI's when she would hit a two-run shot in the fourth and then a walk-off three run homerun in the fifth to give Davenport the 9-0 victory in the fifth inning.The Panthers five homeruns sets a new school record for homeruns in a game.

 Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would go the distance for DU, pitching a three hit five inning shut-out earning her 22nd win on the mound.

Davenport is now 46-15 on the year and will take on Madonna in the championship game of the conference tournament at 2:00pm.
