Early Lead Doesn't Hold in 2-1 Loss to #20 Judson

ELGIN, Ill. - For the second game in a row, Davenport took on an undefeated team and unfortunately got the same result as they fell 2-1 to #20 Judson University. It marked the second straight one goal loss and fourth of the year for DU as they fall to 6-4-0 on the season.

Davenport's difficult schedule continued to only get harder as they faced an Eagles team that moved up to #20 in the NAIA yesterday and was still undefeated on the season at 5-0-0.  Judson scored two unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 in the first fifteen minutes to down the Panthers 2-1.

Michael Ricketts (Tamworth, England) got the Panthers on the board in the 14th minute when he took a long pass from Stuart Collins (Cork, Ireland) and scored by beating the keeper just off his right hand.  The lead lasted just over 16 minutes of play as the host Eagles scored on a very similar play to even the score at 1-1.

The two teams then each created a few chances down the stretch in the opening half but each of the keeper's were up to the task.

Early in the second, Kevin O'Brien (Cork, Ireland) made one of his great saves of the day, and it kept the score tied up.  Unfortunately a bad defensive play deep in the Panthers own end led to a wide open opportunity on top of the box and the Eagles forward buried it top right corner for what would turn out to be the game winner.

The end of the second half was very much like the first as neither team gained an advantage on the offensive side of the field as the scored ended with Judson remaining perfect on the season at 6-0-0.

The loss, the second straight after a six game winning streak for the Panthers, drops their season mark to 6-4-0.  They will look to rebound when they travel back to Illinois to take on Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.
