LEBANON, Ill. - In their final non-conference match of the year, the Davenport Panthers were defeated 5-1 by McKendree University on Sunday afternoon. The host Bearcats scored five unanswered goals after Gerard John-Williams' goal late in the first half.  DU fall to 4-9-4 on the year and will host Cornerstone on Wednesday in what will most likely decide the regular season WHAC championship.

Davenport's final non-conference matchup of the year came against an opponent who had lost only once in 16 matches and the host McKendree Bearcats continued their winning ways by outscoring DU 5-0 after the Panthers had taken the lead with just over 11 minutes to play in the opening half.

Gerard John-Williams scored an unassisted goal at the 31:43 mark to put Davenport up 1-0 but that would be the last bright spot for DU on Sunday afternoon.  McKendree scored twice before halftime to lead 2-1 and then added three more goals from the 75:42 mark to finish off the easy win.

Davenport will have to regroup quickly as their goals of winning a league crown will rely on the outcome of Wednesday night's 7:00pm home contest against cross-town foe Cornerstone.  The Golden Eagles are ahead of DU by two points (12-10) but a win by DU could help the Panthers claim their second straight WHAC crown.
