Davenport Ready for Senior Day Showdown Weekend

CALEDONIA, Mich. The Panthers wrapped up their 10th and 11th matches of the season with back-to-back draws, finishing 2-2 against Parkside and 1-1 against Northern Michigan. Now past the halfway point of the 2025 campaign, Davenport enters the home stretch with just six matches remaining, two of which will take place this weekend on Oct. 17 and Oct. 19.

Following last week's contests, Ryan Sheffer continues to make his offensive presence known, scoring a goal in each of his last four appearances. The streak brings his season total to four goals in as many matches. In goal, Beau Hudd has faced 136 shots this season, recording 31 saves for a .721 save percentage. Hudd also notched his first career assist against Northern Michigan, helping Sheffer secure his fourth goal of the year.

This weekend holds extra significance for the Panthers as the program will honor its three graduating seniors, Jacob Lee, Austin Hall, and Max Wilhelm, during Senior Day on Sunday.

Northern Michigan Matchup
With less than a week separating their last meeting, the Panthers and Wildcats are set to face off once again, this time looking to settle the score after a 1-1 draw. Historically, Davenport leads the all-time series with Northern Michigan, holding an 8-3-7 record. In their previous matchup on Sunday, Oct. 12, both teams found the back of the net in the second half as NMU's Luca Rosen and DU's Ryan Sheffer each tallied a goal to even things up.

As a unit, Northern Michigan has scored nine goals this season, taking 118 total shots with 48 of those on target. Offensively, Rosen has separated himself from the pack, leading the Wildcats in nearly every statistical category. He's taken 40 shots, 17 of them on goal, while earning 11 points and accounting for more than half of NMU's goals (5). Rosen will look to continue his strong offensive form when the Wildcats travel to face Davenport this Friday at 2 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.

In net, Kristal Asaf has been a steady presence, starting and playing in all 10 matches this season. Asaf has recorded 46 saves on 138 shots faced, allowing just seven goals while posting five shutouts.

The Wildcats currently sit at 4-2-4 overall with a 3-2-1 mark in GLIAC play. Before their rematch with the Panthers, NMU will travel to University Center, Mich., to take on Saginaw Valley State at 11 a.m.

Parkside Matchup
Tied for first in overall conference records, Parkside and Roosevelt continue to battle for positioning atop the GLIAC standings. With only eight days separating their last meeting, Davenport and Parkside will look to earn a different result after their 2-2 draw back on Oct. 10.

Following the Senior Day celebration, scheduled to begin 15 minutes before kickoff, the Rangers and Panthers will take the field at 11 a.m. in Caledonia, Mich.

Leading the Rangers offensively is Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen, who tops the team in goals (6), points (15), shots (25), and shots on goal (11). Aguilera-Guillen will look to build on those numbers this weekend, posing an extra defensive challenge for the Panthers.

In net, Daniyal Rana has started and played in all nine matches for Parkside, recording 57 saves on 165 shots faced. Rana has allowed 17 goals and holds a goals-against average of 1.89.

Historically, Parkside holds a narrow lead in the all-time series with Davenport, posting a 7-8-3 record. Before visiting the Panthers on the 19th, Parkside will face Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 17.
