Ouellette's Hat Trick Lifts Davenport past Delta

Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Davenport traveled to the east side of the state on Friday night to take on Delta College for the second consecutive week. The Panthers dominated most of the game having four times as many shots as Delta. Chad Ouellette netted three goals as Davenport won their fifth straight game, and ninth of the season.

Unlike last week's penalty plagued meeting between the Panthers and the Pioneers the majority of the game was played at even strength. Davenport came out skating strong and received two goals from captain Chad Ouellette. The second goal came 8:50 into the period and was assisted by Sam Waldhart. Two minutes later, Delta got on the board, but Davenport responded with a goal by Mike Soto to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead going into the 2nd period.

Davenport continued their strong play in the 2nd period and kept putting pucks on net. Soto scored his second goal of the game to give the Panthers a 4-1 lead. Later in the period, after being denied on a wraparound attempt, Aaron Warsen found Ben Duthler in front of the net for a goal.

In the third period, the Panthers kept pouring on the scoring. John Brooks got in on the scoring by throwing a puck at the front of the net that bounced off a delta defender and into the net. A few minutes later, Ouellette completed his hat trick after receiving a cross ice pass from Leo Donovan and put a wrist shot past the Pioneer goaltender. The scoring was finished up by Adam Lippert who slammed in a puck that was sitting right outside the crease and gave the Panthers an 8-1 victory.

Tim Davis received the win in net for Davenport getting his secon win of the season. Davenport will be back on the ice on Saturday night as they travel to Lansing to take on Lansing CC. The game is scheduled to start at 8:00pm

Post-Game Quotes- Assistant Coach Jeremy Bultema

On the leadership of Chad Ouellette- “Chad is a natural leader. He is a leader that leads by example, which he showed tonight with his 3 goals. He's been encouraging the guys this past week to work hard for the full 60 minutes, and that's what he did tonight. He worked hard and earned all three of his goals.”
