SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Davenport raced out to a 2-0 lead after the opening period and posted a 4-2 win over Colorado State in the semifinals of the "Clash in the Corn" tournament hosted by Dordt College. The Panthers are now 17-2 on the year.
Davenport continued its solid play out west this morning with a 4-2 win over the Rams of Colorado State. It was the first meeting between the two schools.
Mike Soto scored his third goal in the last two games and then
Sam Waldhart followed with a power play goal to put the Panthers up 2-0 after one.
The Rams countered with their first goal to open the second, but Davenport came right back on a goal from
Daniel Hume, assisted by
Zachary Bodziak and
Aaron Warsen. The two teams then traded goals in the third with DU picking up their final one from Waldhart on his second of the game.
