SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Davenport raced out to a 2-0 lead after the opening period and posted a 4-2 win over Colorado State in the semifinals of the "Clash in the Corn" tournament hosted by Dordt College.  The Panthers are now 17-2 on the year.

Davenport continued its solid play out west this morning with a 4-2 win over the Rams of Colorado State. It was the first meeting between the two schools. Mike Soto scored his third goal in the last two games and then Sam Waldhart followed with a power play goal to put the Panthers up 2-0 after one.

The Rams countered with their first goal to open the second, but Davenport came right back on a goal from Daniel Hume, assisted by Zachary Bodziak and Aaron Warsen.  The two teams then traded goals in the third with DU picking up their final one from Waldhart on his second of the game.

Post-Game Quotes - Head coach Chris Green

On play of defensive unit: "The d-core is playing very well right now and coach Jeremy Bultema is very happy. They are doing a great job of getting the pick out of our zone as well as taking scoring chances away.

On playing 4th game in three days tonight: It is always a challenge but this is a challenge we want to have.  The national tournament is 5-games in 4 days so this is the closest we can get to the type of physical and mental challenge when it comes to playing in March.
