Davenport Loses Two 3rd Period Leads and Falls to Adrian 4-3

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - No. 3 Davenport fell to No. 5 Adrian-Gold 4-3 on Friday night. The Panthers saw two separate one goal leads slip away in the 3rd period as the Bulldogs outscored DU 3-1 in the period. Davenport will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they travel to Adrian for a rematch against the Bulldogs.

After a weekend away in Iowa the Panthers returned to Patterson Ice Arena to take on the Adrian Bulldogs. DU jumped out to an early lead thanks to Chad Ouellette. The goal came 2:40 into the period and senior Sam Waldhart was credited with the assist on the play.

DU took a 1-0 into the 2nd period. The Bulldogs responded with a quick goal. Andrew Adams netted a power play goal to tie the game 1-1. The score was tied for less than 2 minutes when Zachary Bodziak gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead. It was a power play goal assisted by Mike Soto and Bryon Guerin. The Panthers held on to a 2-1 lead for the remainder of the period thanks to goaltender Andrew Habasevich. With just over 6 minutes remaining in the period Habasevich stuffed a breakaway attempt from the Bulldogs Bo Beapre.

Bo Beapre would get payback in the 3rd period as his power play goal tied the game 2-2. Five minutes later the Panthers took a 3-2 lead on a goal from Waldhart. John Brooks held the puck inside the blue line and found Waldhart who fired the puck past the Bulldogs goaltender. The lead lasted until 3:30 remaining when Adrian's leading scorer Doug Raymond tied the game. A minute and a half later the Bulldogs netted the game winning goal and stunned the Panthers with a 4-3 win.
