D3 Hockey Swept by Adrian

Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. - Davenport was swept this weekend for the first time this season. Adrian earned the sweep by defeating the Panthers 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs outscored Davenport 3-1 in the final period to secure the win.

Davenport took the ice on Saturday afternoon trying to snap a two game losing streak. The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ben Duthler. The Bulldogs forward Doug Raymond responded with a goal after stealing a clearing attempt by the Panthers. Adrian took a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period after receiving another goal from Raymond.

The score remained 2-1 all the way through the 2nd period. Both teams had power play opportunities but neither team could capitalize on their chances.

DU put some pressure on the Bulldogs early in the 3rd period but couldn't put one past the Adrian goaltender. Then, about nine minutes into the period the Bulldogs put the game away with two goals just 15 seconds apart. Adrian scored one last goal on a five minute power play and Cody Mathieu added a late goal for Davenport for a 5-2 final.

On team play “Were in a season lull right now. We're fighting some in house problems. That's not an excuse for losing games. We need to fix these problems and get back to our winning ways.”

Davenport was outshot 32-28…Sam Waldhart now leads the team with 21 assists…Davenport will be back in action on Sunday at 10:30 AM at Patterson Ice Arena.
