MACOMB, Mich. – The Panthers are returning to the national tournament after DU destroying Adrian College 5-0 in their regional matchup Saturday afternoon.  It marks the second consecutive season for the D3 team to make the National Tournament as it will be held in Holland, MI from March 9-12 at the Edge.

John Cruse (Shelby Twp, Mich.) shutout the Bulldogs in goal and four different players would tally goals for the Panthers in the lopsided game.

The Panthers struggled to stay out of the penalty box in the first period; however, a strong penalty kill unit kept Adrian from posing any threat in the period.

Late in the period at 19:51, Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.) would clean up a loose puck in front of the Bulldogs' net to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. 

The second period would be dominated by the Panthers, as Justin Welker (Speedway, Ind.) added DU's second goal of the game at 9:05 with Mike Soto (Muskegon, Mich.) picking up the assist. Less than two minutes later, Soto would tally his own goal to increase the Panther lead to 3-0.

The Bulldogs would pull their starting goalie after he allowed the third Panther goal.

Davenport would continue to find the back of the net in the third as Soto made the score 4-0 on a nice feed from Welker at 1:43 and Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.) added the Panthers' final goal at 15:53 on a DU power play.

The Panthers will now travel to Holland, Mich. for this year's national tournament.  The details will be released this week as Davenport will be the #3 seed from the North Region.
