Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After being rained out yesterday at their home field, Davenport traveled down to Fort Wayne to take on the Warriors of Indiana Tech for the first time this season. On a cold and windy day DU was able to pick up two wins (3-1 and 6-2) to improve to 32-15 on the year and 19-3 in WHAC play.

Game one would remain scoreless up until the fifth inning when Davenport would put together a two-out rally starting with back to back singles from Amber Getty (Wayland, Mich.) and Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.). Senior Brianna Carpenter (Irvine, Calif.) would then hit a double to right field to score Getty and Brusokas to put DU up 2-0.

Katie Cornman (Eastpointe, Mich.) would add an RBI double right after that to score Carpenter and push the lead to 3-0 after five complete innings. Indiana Tech would produce an unearned run in the bottom of the six to cut the lead to 3-1 but that would be as close as they would get for a 3-1 final score.

Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would get her sixteenth win on the mound for DU, pitching seven complete innings with eight strikeouts while only giving up two hits. Getty and Cornman would each have two hits in the game with Carpenter extending her hitting streak to twelve with her double in the fifth.

In game two the Panthers would use three run innings in the third and seventh to give them their nineteenth conference victory and third straight win.

Amber Getty would stay hot in game two, going 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to finish a perfect 5-5 on the day with a double and two walks. Cornman and senior Cirina Jones (Middleton, Mich.) would each have two runs batted in with Ashlee Olsen (Rockford, Mich.), Liz Veltman (Grand Ledge, Mich.), and Brusokas each having doubles in the 6-2 victory.

Karlee Despres (Belmont, Mich.) would go six complete innings for the Panthers giving up just six hits with five strikeouts. Despres would get her ninth win on the mound with Cole picking up her second save of the year in the seventh to give DU the victory.

Davenport will wrap up conference action on Saturday, April 30th with a 1:00pm doubleheader at UM-Dearborn. Live stats and live audio will be available for both games.
