GRAND RAPIDS, Mich- Davenport got their second win of the weekend Saturday night, defeating Lawrence tech 5-1. Davenport was led by Ben Duthler and Mike Soto who each tallied two goals. The win improves Davenport's record to 2-0 on the season.
It didn't take long for the Panthers to take the lead. Ben Duthler opened the scoring by netting a centering pass from Daniel Hume. Davenport would add another ten minutes later on a goal from Mike Soto and finish the first period with a 2-0 lead.
Duthler gave the Panthers some insurance three minutes into the 2nd period scoring his second goal of the game. Lawrence tech responded eight minutes later to bring the score to 3-1.
In the third period, the Panthers fended off a heavy attack from Lawrence Tech. Right after Davenport finished off a four minute penalty kill, Leo Donovan sprung free and scored on a long outlet pass from Bryon Guerin. Mike Soto added a goal in the last minute on an assist from Cody Mathieu.
Earning the win in net for Davenport was Andrew Habasevich. Habasevich stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced. This was Habasevich's first career win at Davenport.
Davenport has a two week break until their next game. They will resume play on Oct. 7 as they face Northwood University at Patterson Ice Arena at 8:00 PM.

The 2-0 start marks the second straight year head coach Chris Green and his team have done that and the third time in the four year history...The win lifts Davenport to 4-2 all-time against Lawrence Tech
