Davenport Falls to Robert Morris in OT 5-4

Box Score CHICAGO, Ill- The Panthers lost to Robert Morris-Peoria in a one goal game for the second time this season on Friday night. Davenport was able to force overtime after losing a 3-1 third period lead, but couldn't get one last goal as penalties doomed the Panthers all night.

Davenport looked to avenge 2-1 loss to Robert Morris earlier in the season on Friday night. Leo Donovan gave Davenport their first lead of the game half way through the first period. Donovan poked the puck around an Eagle defender and drove hard to the net for his 8th goal of the season. Robert Morris tied the game with 0:29 left in the first period with one of thier five powerplay goals on the night.

The Panthers regained the lead in the second period after a goal by Ben Duthler. Duthler jammed in a rebound right outside the crease to give DU a 2-1 lead.

The second intermission came 4 minutes early due to unfavorable ice conditions. After a 30 minute delay and numerous attempts to fix the ice, the game was moved the other ice rink. The remainder of the second period was finished as the Panthers used the last second of the period to extend their lead. Adam Lippert recieved a pass from Zack Feher right before he was entering the offensive zone. He quickly took a look at the clock and fired a shot past the Eagles goaltender as the horn for the end of the period went off.

In the third period RMU used three powerplay goals as they cameback from two goals down. The eagles tied the game with eight minutes remaining and then kept the momentum and took the lead with five minutes remaining. With thier backs to the wall and the momentum working against them Davenport was able to tie the game up with four minutes remaining on a goal from Feher. Neither team was able to score in the final four minutes of regulation and the game went into overtime.

In overtime the Panthers had a good scoring opportunity as they sent the puck to the front of the net, but they were unable to convert on the play. Similar to the the end of the second period Robert Morris used a last second goal in OT to get the win. Once agian the goal came on the powerplay as did the rest of the Eagles goals.
