Louisville, Ken.- Davenport extended their winning streak to five games as they took down D2 Louisville. Jake Otto led the Panthers with two goals and Blake Damerow added a goal and two assists. John Cruse picked up his sixth win in net as he recorded 9 saves. The two teams will play again Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
Davenport came out in the first period with a high level of energy. The Panthers dominated play in the first period outshooting the Cardinals 20-2. Kyle McConnell gave Davenport a 1-0 lead after getting set up by Blake Damerow and John Deal. Six minutes later, Jake Otto scored his first of two goals on an assist from Dugan Kelly.
In the second period, the penalty kill gave the Panthers a boost when Donald Sund capitalized on a penalty shot after being taken down on a breakaway. Jake Otto also added a goal in the second period to give Davenport a 4-0 advantage heading into the third.
Davenport's dominance continued in the third period as they added three goals in the final four minutes of the period. Blake Damerow and Jordan Steger each added a goal before the Cardinals slipped a puck past John Cruse on a ricochet off of a Davenport defender. A minute later Willis Gelow picked up his first goal of the season on a power play goal that was set up by Blake Damerow and Jordan Crawford to give Davenport a 7-1 victory.
