EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Panthers saw their seven game winning streak come to an end as the fell to Ole Miss 5-2 on Saturday night. Davenport controlled most of the play and outshot the rebels 53-32 but Ole Miss capitalized on their scoring opportunities as they netted two shorthanded goals and a power play goal.
The Panthers fell into an early hole as Ole Miss scored an power play goal 2:21 into the game. Midway through the period Bryon Guerin found Blake Damerow in front of the net to pull the Panthers even at 1-1
The score remained tied until there was 12:35 left in the second period. The Rebels scored their first shorthanded goal of the night to take a 2-1 lead. Later in the period the rebels extended their lead to 3-1 after scoring on a major power play,
A Panthers comeback looked promising early in the third period after Branden Burton pulled the Panthers within one goal with 16:15 remaining. Davenport continued to control most of the play but a costly turnover put the game out of reach as the Rebels converted on a breakaway. With a 1:41 Ole Miss added an empty net goal to earn a 5-2 victory.

Tim Davis earned his first loss of the year as he gave up three goals on 17 shots in 35 minutes in net…John Cruse registered 25 minutes in net giving up 1 goal on 15 shots…Five goals is the most goals the Panthers have let in all year.
