Panthers Ready to Face Saints After Three Week Break

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –After a three week break in November, the Panthers are set to face off against Aquinas College in a two game weekend series. DU will look to build on a three game win streak while the Saints hope to get back on track after being swept by Calvin College. Davenport will host the Saints at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday at 4:00 pm and then travel to Griff's Ice house on Sunday for a 4:20 pm game.

Coming into Saturday's showdown the Saints and Panthers are heading in opposite directions. Davenport enters the weekend riding a three game win streak. Before the break the Panthers picked up an impressive sweep of then undefeated Calvin College and then outlasted Adrian-Black in a scoring duel 10-7. Meanwhile, the Saints are on a two game skid after being swept by Calvin College.

Scouting Aquinas College
Saturday marks the first meeting between Davenport and Aquinas but there will be one familiar face behind the Saints bench. Aquinas is led by Head Coach Mark VanVliet, who spent four seasons (2008-11) as an assistant coach for Davenports D3 hockey team.

In the latest rankings Aquinas sits at No.11 in the north region. The Saints got off to a quick start this season as they went 9-2 in their first 11 games. The hot start was highlighted by a six game win streak in which they picked up wins over Detroit Mercy, Kettering, Northwestern (2), and Lansing CC (2).

On the ice Aquinas has been led by freshman Sam Mathhews and sophomore Matt krzykwa. Through 13 games Matthews leads the team with 12 goals and 7 assists while Krzykwa has chipped in 12 goals and 6 assists.
