GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The D3 hockey team has big weekend ahead of them as they take on crosstown rival Grand Valley State. Both teams enter the weekend with one loss and conference play. Davenport has an 8-4 all-time record against the Lakers and have won the last eight meetings. Davenport will host GVSU Friday at Patterson Ice Center and will travel to Grand Valley State on Saturday.

PANTHERS VERSUS LAKERS: Davenport is 8-4 all-time against Grand Valley State. The Panthers are 2-3 when playing at Grand Valley and 4-0 when play at Patterson. Davenport and Grand Valley State have met three times on neutral sites during the North Regional Tournament with the Panthers holding a 2-1 advantage. The Lakers dominated the first four games of the series as they won all four by a combined score of 22-8. Since then the Panthers have won the last eight games.
WEEKEND RECAP: Davenport finished last weekend with a 2-1 record. The Panthers started the weekend with two wins over Lansing Community College winning 9-2 at Lansing and 12-2 at home. On Sunday DU dropped their first conference game of the season as they lost to Michigan State 3-1 at home.
SCOUTING GRAND VALLEY STATE: The Lakers got off to a slow start to begin the season but have played well as of late. After being swept early on by Robert Morris-Peoria and Arkansas, GVSU has gone 6-1 in conference play. Grand Valley has recently swept Calvin, split with MSU, and defeated Hope. Leading the Lakers so far this season has been junior Ben Kadau. Kadau leads the team with 11 assists and ranks third on the team with 7 goals. Freshman goaltender Jiri Aberle has also contributed the Lakers success thus far. Aberle has posted and 8-5 record while allowing only 2.56 goals a game and posting a .92 save percentage.
