Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport earned their 20
th win of the year as they cruised past Wayne State 5-1.
Jake Otto and
Patrick Martin continued their strong weekends with two goals each to lead the Panthers. DU will continue play after the winter break at Oakland on January 11.
The Panthers, who have not been a first period team this year, came out and scored three goals in the opening period.
Patrick Martin scored his fifth goal of the year 3:17 into the opening period to give DU a 1-0 lead. 26 seconds later
Jake Otto scored his first of two 1
st period goals. After Otto's second goal of the period the Warriors scored a shorthanded goal on shot that deflected of a Davenport defender and the Panthers took a 3-1 lead into the 2
nd.
There was a limited amount of 5-on-5 hockey played in the second period as nine penalties were called. Freshmen forward
Patrick Martin picked up his second goal of the game, and third goal on the weekend with 12:08 left in the period. In the remaining ten minutes of the period the Panthers were on the power play for 7:47 but were unable to beat the Warriors penalty kill.
Davenport continued to control the play in the third period but were held scoreless until the last minute of play.
Bryon Guerin knocked in a rebound with 50 seconds remaining to pick up his 12
th goal of the season.
Tim Davis picked up his third win of the season in net as he stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced. Davenport will resume play after the New Year on January 11 as they travel to Oakland for the first game of a home-and-home series.

Davenport struggled getting production on the power play as they went 0-7 on power play opportunities…Coming into tonight's game the Panthers had only scored 31 1
st period goals in 23 games...DU outshot the warriors 48-23.
