THREE GAME WEEK: Davenport will start their weekend with a home and home series with Lansing Community College. This is the only two times the Panthers and Stars are scheduled to meet. The Panthers will finish the weekend at home on Sunday against Michigan State for the first of two meeting this season.
PANTHERS VERSUS STARS: Davenport is 7-1 all-time against Lansing CC. The Panthers have won the past four games in the series and have outscored the Stars 30-5.
PANTHERS VERSUS SPARTANS: Davenport is 3-1 all-time against Michigan State. The Panthers only met once last season due to a weather cancelation. In that game Davenport defeated the Spartans 6-3.
WEEKEND RECAP: Saturday, December 1 – The host Panthers defeated Aquinas College 6-1. Davenport gained a 5-0 lead before the Saints found the back of the net. Six different players scored for the Panthers in the 6-1 win. – Sunday, Dec. 30 – At Aquinas, the Panthers fell into a 2-0 hole after the first period. In the second period Davenport exploded for five goals scoring four unanswered and finished with a 6-3 victory.
MCHC WEST STANDINGS: Entering the weekend Davenport (6-0) trails Hope (7-1) by one win in the MCHC west. With three MCHC west games this weekend the Panthers will have the opportunity to claim sole possession of first place in the conference.
SCOUTING LANSING CC: Lansing CC comes into the weekend sitting in last place in the MCHC west division. The Stars are 1-12 on the season and their lone victory was a 20-3 trouncing of Delta College. Through 13 games teams have outscored the Stars 89-58. Leading Lansing CC on offense are freshman forwards Kyle Storey-Szombati and Tyler Johnston. Both have 15 points on the season.
SCOUTUNG MICHIGAN STATE: Michigan State has got off to a hot start this season. In October the Spartans went 3-0 during the Civil War Showcase. MSU beat Alabama and Ole Miss, two teams that took down the Panthers in the showcase. The Spartans only regulation losses came against Hope College. The Player to watch on the Spartans is Chris Coyne. So far this season Coyne is averaging a little over a goal and an assist a game and leads the team in goals with 17, and is second in assist with 18.
