LANSING, Mich.- Tied 1-1 through one period of play, the Panthers offensive exploded for six goals in the second period in route to a 9-2 win over Lansing CC. Eight different players found the back of the net for Davenport including two goals from Jake Otto. Davenport will be home for the rest of the weekend as they host Lansing CC on Saturday and Michigan State on Sunday.
Despite a sloppy first period the Panthers and Stars were tied 1-1 at first intermission. Davenport struggled to control the puck as they had 20 turnovers in the first period. Jake Otto opened up the scoring in the first as he fired a wrist shot from in between the circles. Dugan Kelly and Donald Sund were credited with assists on the play. Later in the period the Stars pulled even on a power play goal.
In the second period the Panthers came out with a high level of energy. Davenport wore down the Lansing defense as they sent one offensive attack after another. DU scored six goals in the period, five of which came in the first seven minutes. Dugan Kelly, Cody Mathieu, Patrick Martin, John Deal, Brandon Burton, and Blake Damerow all scored for DU, with each goal coming at even strength.
In the third period Davenport converted on their only power play opportunity of the game. Jake Hambidge fired a pass up the right wing boards to Jordan Steger, who quickly cut back to the middle and sniped a shot top shelf. Latter in the period Jake Otto put in his second goal of the game on a rebound just outside the crease.

Davenport Improved to 7-0 in the MCHC West and now holds a two game lead over Hope College…Davenport has won five straight games against Lansing CC…Davenport has won six straight games for the second time this season.
