Davenport to Defend MCHC Tournament Title

MIDLAND, Mich. - After qualifying for the National Tournament with wins over Calvin and UM-Flint, Davenport will try to repeat as MCHC Blue tournament Champions.  Davenport is the No. 3 seed and will begin tournament play against Grand Valley State at 8:45 PM on Thursday night.

Davenport has qualified for the National Tournament for the third straight year. The Panthers will head to Vineland, New Jersey for the Tournament opener on March 14. Davenport's pool consists of College of the Canyons, Central Florida, and Robert Morris (PA).

First, the Panthers have one more goal to achieve; Repeat as MCHC Blue Tournament Champions. The MCHC Tournament will be a good tune-up for the Panthers. There' s a chance Davenport will face Hope College and Saginaw Valley, two teams who will be in New Jersey for the national tournament as well.

Davenport, who finished 3rd in the MCHC Blue, opens the MCHC tournament with Grand Valley State. The Panthers swept the season series with the Lakers. In the two game Davenport outscored the GVSU 15-2. Mike Soto (4 goals, 1 assist), Zack Feher ( 2 goals, 4 assists), and Jordan Steger (3 goals, 1 assists) will all look to continue their success against Grand Valley this season.

The semi-final games will be held on Friday night with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed at 4:45 and the two middle reaming teams playing at 7:15. The winners of the two semi-final games will meet in the championship game on Saturday at 3:00 PM and the losers will play in a consolation game at 5:30 PM.
