Post Game Quotes –
Ronda Varnesdeel and
Karlee Despres
Varnesdeel on Despres' presence on the mound against Lindsey Wilson: “She stayed in control and got ahead early in counts throughout the whole game. It was nice to see her step in right away since joining us from basketball season and have the ability to throw seven complete no hit innings. Karlee's performance today just shows the extra work she put in this off season to be able to come in and contribute right away.”
Despres on her mind set today and her performance on the mound: “I just knew that I had to come out strong and be there for my teammates after our disappointing loss yesterday. Lindsey Wilson is a great team and I just wanted to do my part to put our team in a position to be successful. After falling early at Nationals for basketball I still had that loss on my mind and took that 'anger' out onto the mound today.”
Despres on her keys to success today: “Being my first game back I could fell the fatigue on the mound early but that just made me focus on using my legs more which was key to helping my pitches stay consistent and move the entire game.”
