NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On a day that the Panthers only produced six hits, Davenport fell 4-1 and 5-4 to Trevecca Nazarene. Davenport is now 16-10 on the year and will be action tomorrow against #RV Cumberland University.
In game one of the doubleheader the scored remained 0-0 up until the bottom of the fifth when Trevecca struck first with a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead. Davenport then tied the game back up at 1-1 in the top of the sixth off an RBI single from
Paige Sant'Angelo.
The host team was able to regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth, putting three runs on the board in route to a 4-1 defeat of Davenport. Sant'Angelo and
Kayla Gonyea recorded the only hits for DU with
Karlee Despres taking the loss on the mound.
Davenport jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning of the second game behind a two run homerun from
Ashleigh Blovsky. Errors then got the best of DU in the bottom of the first with Trevecca posting four unearned runs on two DU miscues.
Debra Burton tied the game back up for the Panthers in the top of the fourth after hitting her first homerun of the season to left center. The score remained 4-4 until Trevecca pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh to hand DU their second straight loss of the day.
Sam Cole took the loss on the mound as the Panthers are now 16-10 on the year.
