ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Panthers couldn't find the back of the net in the first period but were able to score a goal in the second period which gave them control of the game. The third period Davenport put major pressure on GVSU and were able to score two power-play goals and an even strength goal to shut-out GVSU 4-0 in game two of a home-and-home series. DU has nearly two weeks off to prepare for their next home-and-home series against Michigan State beginning Friday December 6
th at MSU.
The Panthers had some fairly good opportunities in the first period but couldn't find the back of the net. Davenport's defense and
John Cruse were able to stop GVSU's offense from finding the net also and the game was tied at 0-0 at the end of the first period.
Both teams fought for control of the game during the beginning of the second period until
Bryon Guerin was able to strike first after a passing series from
Daniel Swink and
Jordan Crawford to give the advantage during the second. Panther offense fought hard for control of the puck but couldn't get any shots past GVSU's goaltender. DU kept their 1-0 lead until the end of the second period.
The third period saw huge offensive plays including two power-play goals from two sets of Davenport lines (
Jake Otto,
Donald Sund, and Brandon Burton) and(
Daniel Swink,
Donald Sund, and
Jordan Crawford). Then
Daniel Swink came back and scored a goal near the end of the third period to seal on the deal on a 4-0 shut-out against GVSU.
