PANTHERS VERSUS STARS: Davenport is 9-1 all-time against Lansing CC. The Panthers won both meetings earlier this year. On December 7, DU defeated the Stars in Lansing 9-2 as 8 different Panthers found the back of the net. Davenport came back the next day and cruised by the Stars 12-2 at home.
Donald Sund recorded a Hat trick and
Dugan Kelly added 2 goals and four assists to lead the Panthers.
LIKELY MATCHUPS: If the Panthers get by Lansing Community College on Friday they will face the winner of No.4 and No.5 seed matchup between Grand Valley State and Calvin College. The Panthers swept both GVSU and Calvin in the regular season. Calvin presented the biggest challenge in a 2-1 win by DU at Calvin. The Panthers had to fight off numerous penalty kills in the final ten minutes to escape with a victory. On the other side of the bracket the two quarterfinals are No.2 Hope College vs No.7 Aquinas College and No.3 Michigan State vs. Adrian College-Black.
SCOUTING LANSING CC: After starting the year 2-15 the Stars had a little more success in the second half of the season and finished 5-3 in their last 8 games. In that stretch they picked up wins split with GVSU, swept Adrian-Black, and lost a one goal game to Calvin.
Lansing CC has three players that finished the regular season with double digit goals. Kyle Storey-Szombati leads the team in scoring with 18 goals and 12 assists. Kyle Laslo led the majority of the Stars goaltending statistical categories. Laslo led in wins (3), GAA (4.30), and save percentage (.89)
