Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – Day two of the NTC Spring Games saw the Lady Panthers come away with a spilt against Wilmington University (Del.). Davenport took the opener 6-0 before falling 4-1 in the second.
Sam Cole picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the year while
Ashleigh Blovsky posted her fourth homerun of the season as well. DU returns to action on Tuesday when they will play St. Thomas (Fla.) at 9 a.m. and SUNY-Canton at 11 a.m.
Game 1, 6-0 Win
The first game saw
Sam Cole pick up another win on the mound as the senior posted five strikeouts and only two walks in the full seven innings while picking up her first shutout of the season. Davenport had 11 hits as a team in game one as
Ashleigh Blovsky went 3-4 at the plate and Sara Schneidenbach was next with a 2-4 performance.
The Panthers strung up four base hits in the second inning to take the lead to 2-0 and they added two more in the sixth and seventh innings to win 6-0.
Katie Creighton and
Kelly DuCharme both had their first collegiate hits as Davenport Panthers.
Game 2, 4-1 Loss
Game two on the day placed freshman
Kyleigh Linebaugh on the mound and she suffered her second setback falling 4-1. It was a pitcher's duel for the first three innings until the Wildcats scored twice toward the end of their batting lineup. DU tried to crawl back in after falling behind but a solo—homerun from
Ashleigh Blovsky was the only scoring they would get as they split the doubleheader
The Wildcats had 12 hits compared to seven from DU as Blovsky went 2-3 at the plate with the homer to centerfield in the sixth inning.
Amber Getty was next batting .500 on the day.
Davenport Softball will be back in action tomorrow morning February 26
th at 9 a.m. facing St. Thomas (Fla.) and then again at 11 a.m. against SUNY (Canton).
