Corey Murphy (1-0) was impressive in his Davenport (8-5) debut, allowing the two unearned runs in the first two frames but finished the day going seven innings, scattering five hits, a walk and a hit by pitch but punched out six batters.

Despite both teams combined for 16 hits on the afternoon, nobody stretched for extra bases. Carey Ross, Jotham Woo and Eric Cummings each had two hits to lead the Panthers.

The Panthers couldn't find a way to completely break down Trojan starter Denys Delgado until the sixth. Ross and Woo led off with a single and Michael Allen earned a free pass to load the bases. Carlos Berroa sent a pitch to center field deep enough for Ross to score the Panthers first run and after Edward Grochowalski Jr. reloaded the bases with a walk, Cam Cooper drove in the tying run with a single to center and Tyler Berger forced the go-ahead run to come in with a walk. Cummings added a couple of insurance runs with a two-run single to left center.

Corey Anderson would take over for Murphy in the eighth, going the rest of the way allowing two hits.
