GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport will finally play a game in the state of Michigan on Wednesday when they officially open the Farmers Athletic Complex when they welcome in Northwood University (Mich.) for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. The Panthers, owners of a 13-6-1 overall record, have not played since a 3-1 weekend on March 15-17 in Tennessee. DU will also head south to Ohio and Virginia for a pair of double headers vs. Shawnee State and Virginia Intermont this weekend.
A Quick Look at Northwood - Northwood is a member of the GLIAC in NCAA DII and owns a 10-9 overall record and is 1-1 in conference play. The Timberwolves are led by sixth year head coach Meaggan Pettipiece and she is led by Stacey Klonowski who is batting .379 for the team. On the mound, Maddison Sebald has a 5-3 overall record in 54.2 innings pitched.
A Quick Look at Virginia Intermont - The Cobras, a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) are the hottest team on DU's schedule coming into this week as they have won their last 12 contests. A Quick Look at Shawnee State - The Polar Bears are the only opponent that Davenport has faced before amongst the three on the schedule this week. Head coach Ralph Cole and SSU have been a perennial NAIA Tournament competitor and he comes into the week with an overall record of 566-283-1 in 22 years of coaching. Maintain .500 record vs. NAIA #RV Teams - Davenport played one more team in the receiving votes section in their last game action as they split against Martin Methodist. Davenport is now 17-17 all-time against teams in the #RV section of the NAIA Top-25 Poll.
Around the WHAC - Most of the conference is finishing up their spring break schedules and unfortunately, the results have not been the greatest for the conference teams. Cornerstone has been off except a two game set against Grace and owns the WHAC's best overall record at 12-2 while only four teams own a record over .500, one at .500 and four are below that mark.
