Senior Day Sweep; Panthers Pick up Identical 9-0 Wins over Tech

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The final week of the regular season got off to a great start as Davenport posted a pair of 9-0 wins in five innings over visiting Indiana Tech. The two victories lift the Panthers to 28-11-1 on the season as they posted 15 combined hits and 18 runs to sweep the Warriors and stay within striking distance in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season race. DU will conclude their regular season on Friday when they travel to face UM-Dearborn at 4 p.m.

Game 1 - W, 9-0 (5)

The first three innings showcased a pitcher's duel as Sam Berrios of Indiana Tech went pitch for pitch with Sam Cole of Davenport. DU did get one in the bottom of the first when Amber Getty led off the DU at-bat with a solo homerun marking the second time she has done that at home this season.

After failing to score in each of the next two frames, the flood gates opened in the fourth as DU posted a six spot as Getty picked up two more RBI and she was joined in knocking in runs by Debra Burton and KC Dunne.  The Panthers made the most of four Tech errors while collecting just three hits in the inning.

The scoring was finished in the sixth inning when Paige Sant'Angelo hit a walk-off 2-run shot to give the sophomore her second homerun in as many days. Sam Cole finished the five-inning affair with four strikeouts to improve to 18-6 on the season.

Game 2 - W, 9-0 (5)

In what turned out to be an identical scoring game, the process was much different as the Panthers scored early and often bringing home three in the second and six more in the third to back another solid conference start from freshman Kyleigh Linebaugh on the mound.

Paige Sant'Angelo, Lindsay Allen, Debra Burton and Amber Getty all had RBI's during the second inning as DU posted four hits to go along with a pair of Tech miscues to build a 6-0 lead.

The following inning saw Allen pick up two more RBI and Karli Myers her first of the game and it was more than enough runs to help Linebaugh pick up her ninth win of the season.

Linebaugh went all five innings while allowing zero runs on four hits and a pair of walks. The freshman struck out two while getting solid defense behind her.

Davenport will conclude their regular season on Friday with their final two WHAC games at UM-Dearborn. The Panthers are currently two games behind Cornerstone in the loss column but the Golden Eagles still have eight conference games to play this week.
